Not only do Italians have a good sense for fashion and food, the refinement is also found in the music. Amstra (Stefano Tidona) is 22 years old, from Italy and a music afficionado since an early age.

The refinement comes from a sound both sophisticated, yet polished, but still raw. He draws his inspiration from ambient, symphathetic and friendly melodies which results in a sound that is sometimes utopian or melancholic.

Next to obvious feeling-inducing chants, Amstra knits it together with brutal armour-penetrating techno. A concise and rhythmic raw percussion base underneath idyllic synth riffs and weeping and bleeding pad movement.

    Märked Podcast 031 VINYA

It was in January 2020 when VINYA had his first appearance on the label with ‘Dagra’. Dagra – along with 3 other tracks who who were released as Adar EP not long after – set the tone and standard for the future of VINYA. Pure, churning basses and aggressive synth loops.

In a podcast it’s nothing different; drive is what runs through like a train. Percussive high-octane techno for your not so occasional late night weekend trips.

While his residence in Berlin is still only short-lived, we feel that this decision is the springboard for his success. It is said that Berlin is full of opportunities for artists, and even more so for those who try their hand at music.

Just 2 weeks old is Public Hostility Pt. 1 by Civil Unrest, where VINYA contributed ‘Morn’. It has similarities to Caun, but has a higher BPM and more drive, arguably evenly punishing.

In everything creative it’s important to keep on shipping – and we feel even more so in music.

“Amazing ideas and incredible projects die at the hands of people who think just one more tweak, one more proofread, one more change is needed before putting that project out into the world. These people are paralyzed by the resistance and can’t ship.” Alexa Rohn

Reason for the quote is that we’ve seen Canadian Aahan grow to an extent where he features on Monnom Black and Clergy in such a short time. It’s because Aahan ships. Social media and SoundCloud are his playground to ship, test and hear.

Enough of the anecdotes, let’s jump into the music.

Umbraid means fast, diverse and blending a lot of different styles; layers of acid, trance, hardcore and breakbeat. His vision to create a dystopic future through music is most brought forward by combining the aforementioned in an usual Umbraid way.

Surprisingly these tracks are all made by the same person, Theophile himself. The inspiration for melancholy, fast-moving and industrial techno is derived from the hopes and fears of the millennial generation.

Now sit back while you tune in to Umbraid’s complex musical brain.

d_b doesn’t like to be recognized with a face – it’s solely left to the imagination of the receiver. It doesn’t matter, because techno and underground dance music was meant to be a statue of function over form since the beginning of times.

Our Amsterdam-based Märked podcast department is quickly gaining French territory, seen as also 2 previous ones were from there; podcast 27 by YÅ and podcast 26 by Monsieur Nobody.

Furthermore, d_b’s set is characterized by a common thread of contagious grooves and drive. It is something the French have been doing very well over the past years. Now, during these times of corona-confinement we must not forget to make most out of every minute. Here’s 80 minutes of electrifying and blistering techno by d_b.

A style recognized by an overall speed which is among the highest in techno. YÅ from Paris stretches this outer boundary and combines it with a variety of different aspects of electronic. In his latest EP on Pulse ‘Cycle Of The Mental Machine’ you hear influences of hard trance and hardstyle from before 2002.

After browsing the internet some more, Pulse actually seems to be under his own belt. Also being the head of Mainmise Records shows that he is a busy guy doing all stuff music-related for the French techno scene. It confirms that France is an amazing country for this music, once again.

If you are wondering if YÅ ever featured on Märked, the answer is yes. In Surge Of Power II you find his track among 15 other great artists.

There is something mysterious about wearing a mask. People can’t read you and therefore have more trouble forming an opinion about you – which is something people love to do. It is at these moments that a mask is a great symbol for anonymity and even more a tool to guide the visitor or listener to really focus on what is played.

Monsieur Nobody is actively involved in the French techno scene with his own imprint ERADYS records, founded together with Matrheim in 2016. Next to that his sound has seen many dance floors of warehouses in Paris – of which some of them were hosted by his own New’s Cool.

For our 26th edition of recorded sets by artists we see Monsieur Nobody had brought a variety of big guns and funky surprises for your ears to hear in the coming hour. Enjoy and let us know what you think in the Soundcloud comment section.

After 3 EP’s with memorable tracks and big features it was time to invite him for a podcast. Not only did we sign him for the podcast which marks a quarter centenary, but also revealing a lot of brand new tracks. Can you spot them?

You know Torgue doesn’t sit still as the full hour is filled with strictly own produced tracks. Over the 2 years where we released music of his we can only say that nowdays’ techno scene needs a splash of the diversity that is heard in his tracks.

In recent times Copenhagen has seen a rise in popularity mostly known for a techno sound that is fast and higher in BPM. Also trance sees a revival on labels like Euromantic and Kulør. ANTN – who is also from Copenhagen – seems to have a more cold and abrasive approach. In his day job as a sound designer and composer for film he tends to record in the field a lot and use it – or as an inspiration – for his own projects as a musician.

With releases on mentionable labels like: TRTLNCK and Counterweight, ANTN has already proven his functional sound on dancefloors across Europe. Using hardware exclusiveley in both production and live performances, ANTN strives to deliver a heavy hitting live act, inspired by his dark and cold Northern European surroundings.

Passion shines through from those who travel, dig and search through piles of dusty black vinyl. Scanning through a big stack of music that had only been released in physical format. This is a big part of Comrade Winston as a DJ and producer, who is known for playing energetic sets aimed towards dance floors. A lot of tracks
from the 90’s and early 2000’s with contagious grooves that want to make you move pass by.

Not only is he pushing the older sound through his own alias, but has only recently announced the birth of a techno oriented club night focussing
on just that niche within electronic music. This club night is curated by 8Bahn and Comrade Winston himself.
